Ben Murray is a writer, editor and content creator based in Brighton who has written for a wide variety of publications including the BBC, TechCrunch, Art Fund, Art Quarterly, People's Economy, and The Argus newspaper. He writes across an eclectic range of subjects including the arts (especially film and literature), economics, business, and technology.
Various freelance clients, through his work with content consultancy Group SJR, have included Aon, Drax Power, and EY.
As well as writing, Ben has a wealth of online editorial experience, having worked for the BBC for over six years, four of which were spent heading up the Corporation's online media centre, and as part of the team that relaunched the About the BBC platform in 2011. During this time, he established a production hub responsible for creating hundreds of short-form films promoting BBC programming, and led on numerous large-scale digital PR projects, including London 2012, BBC Proms, and Glastonbury.
Following this, he spent a year writing about the integration of arts and technology with the BBC/Arts Council-funded project, The Space, then joined the team that conceived, developed and launched the accessible economics website, People's Economy.
Most recently, Ben has headed up the digital content team at Art Fund, the UK's national charity for art, which works to support museums and galleries across the country, where, among many other things, he oversaw content production to support Art Fund Museum of the Year, from 2017-2023.
Ben has also written a book inspired by his reading of Marcel Proust's In Search of Lost Time.
